Your first route in five minutes
From an empty map to a finished GPX: draw, snap to streets, download.
GPS art looks complicated, but the whole flow is short. Let's go from an empty map to a file you can load onto your watch.
1. Find a spot
Open the editor and search for a city or neighbourhood. Dense street networks draw best – city centres, housing estates, parks with paths. In the countryside, go for big simple shapes.
2. Draw or insert a shape
You have three options:
- Draw on roads – drag on the map and the line snaps to streets right away.
- Insert a sketch – pick a ready shape (heart, star, lightning bolt…) or draw one by hand in the dialog.
- Text – type a name or a word, the letters join into one line.
3. Adjust size and position
Grab the shape to move it, drag a frame corner to resize, the top handle to rotate. Keep an eye on the route length in the panel – most GPS art is 5 to 15 km.
Tip: bigger shapes read better on the map. Small details blur while running.
4. Check the route
Look over the whole route. Snapping follows the map, not traffic rules – if it runs along a busy road, move the shape or edit the points.
5. Download the GPX
The Route GPX button downloads a file you can load into Garmin, Strava or Komoot. The other guides show how.
Your first routes are free. No card needed.
