FAQ

Common questions

All about GPS art, snapping to streets and getting the route onto your watch.

What is GPS art?+

GPS art is a route you run, ride or walk so that the recorded track draws a picture on the map. It is often called Strava art because that is where most people share it.

How does Sketch by Runity work?+

Draw a shape, pick a motif or type some text and place it on the map. Sketch snaps it to real streets and paths from OpenStreetMap and you download a GPX file for your watch or app.

Which watches and apps does it work with?+

Anything that reads GPX: Garmin Connect and Garmin watches, Strava, Komoot, Suunto, Coros, Wahoo and phone apps.

How do I get the route onto a Garmin watch?+

Download the GPX, import it in Garmin Connect as a course and sync your watch. The course shows up under navigation. The guides walk you through it.

How long should a route be?+

Most GPS art is 5–15 km. Bigger shapes read better on the map, so size the shape to the distance you want to cover. The editor shows the length and an estimated time.

What if I go off route?+

Nothing breaks. The picture is whatever your watch records. Small detours just soften the line, so bold shapes without tiny details work best.

Does it work on a phone?+

Yes, Sketch by Runity runs in the browser on phones, tablets and laptops. Nothing to install.

Is it safe?+

Snapping follows the map, not traffic rules. Always check the route before you head out and keep off busy roads and private property.
